PGA member Greg Rowley, author of Golf, Naked: The Bare Essentials Revealed (Pick It Up Publishing, March 2009), has worked at and managed some of the finest golf facilities in the United States. The Club at Black Rock, where he was the Director of Golf, was named Golf Digest's "Best New Private Course" in 2003. In 2004, Greg was named by Men's Journal as having one of the "50 Best Jobs in America." He serves on the Board of Directors for the Inland Empire Chapter of the PGA and has won several awards for his innovative programs, including being a two-time recipient of the President's Award for Growing the Game of Golf. Greg has played with and taught men, women, juniors, seniors, celebrities, professional athletes, PGA Tour players and beginners.
Greg is a fun, dynamic speaker that keeps the audience interested and engaged as he discusses golf etiquette, using golf for business purposes (whether you're the host or the client), and tips and tricks to improve your time at the course and help golf enrich your life. He has informed and entertained college students, Rotary clubs and Chamber of Commerce meetings, golf trade shows, and hosted countless golf events and dozens of radio interviews across the country.
Rowley graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Psychology. He minored in varsity volleyball, intramural basketball, fraternity antics, and barroom activities - including, but not limited to, beer-pong, billiards, foosball, shuffleboard and darts.
Greg lives in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with his wife, Jillian, his daughter's Taylin and Marin, and two big black dogs. He can usually be found relaxing on Hayden Lake, driving over things in his Jeep, competing in local Pro-Am Golf tournaments, or playing co-ed rec-league volleyball and softball. He plays third base.
How Confident are You?
Golf Naked is a feeling. It's the way every golfer can feel exposed on the course, as if all eyes are on you. It doesn't matter if it's your first time playing, or if you're a leather-skinned golf junkie - there are occasions during this game that can make anyone feel self-conscious or unsure of themselves.
Golf Naked is about cutting through all of the inconsequentials and really getting down to the bare essentials that keep bringing us back to the course again and again. Think about it, if it takes you two seconds to execute a golf swing and you go out and shoot 90, then you've only spent 180 seconds 'golfing.' What was going on during the other 4+ hours that you were at the course? Golf isn't about micro-movements of muscle groups, or MOI numbers of the latest drivers - it's about hitting the course with friends and family, it's about making your personal best score, or maybe it's just enjoying the sunshine in a beautiful location. Most of all, it should be fun.
Golf Naked is about the way this game strips us completely bare, and can really expose the true character of the player. No one will ever remember your score, they're too busy worrying about their own. They will remember the way you look, act and react. It's a chance to completely ruin other's opinion of you, or a chance to demonstrate experience, confidence, class, humility, and ultimately, golfing grace.

Testimonials:
“I just participated in the two day pro-am for the Rosauers Open. Our pro for the first day was Greg Rowley. What a wonderful experience it was to be with him for the day. We didn't play very well, but the golf was almost an afterthought. Listening to Greg talk about his background and his book was mesmerizing. I've played in lots of pro-ams over the years with many different pros. Most are nice guys but Greg is, without question, the most fun and interesting golf pro I have ever met!”
-Roy Besand, Vice President-Quality Assurance, Western Family Foods

“Just wanted to take a minute to personally thank you for the entertaining and what was for me educational program before the Coeur d'Alene Rotary Club. Your presentation was designed for those that love the game as well as those of us who don't play. I plan to purchase a few books and give them as gifts because your message covers essential etiquette that extends far beyond golf... if one is truly interested in success! Your humor is infectious and I wish you well in the future!”
